We are a specialty private school serving students with special needs. While most of our students have a medically diagnosed disability or an IEP from a public school, this is not required for enrollment. Families generally seek our school because their child was not happy or successful in the public school setting. While we wish we could serve every child, we are a small school with limited resources. In order to ensure that we can provide the best possible support and education for each student, we have specific limitations on the types of children we can enroll:
- Students must be at least 5 years old by September 1st of the school year for which they’re enrolling.
- Students may not remain enrolled past the school year that they turn 22.
- Students older than 6 must be completely independent in the restroom unless they have a physical disability.
- At the elementary and middle school campus, student behavior must respond to classroom management strategies. Exceptions can be made for students who need specialized behavior intervention if they are receiving ABA services and an RBT accompanies them to school.
- At the high school campus, students must be compliant and able to follow directions with minimal support. Students with challenging behaviors are not eligible to attend the high school.
- Cognitive ability is also a consideration for enrollment. We have found that children who have a very severe or profound intellectual disability typically do not thrive in this environment. See our enrollment page for more information about how we assess students before enrollment.
